Edward Lathan is a Marine Veteran with over 23 years of faithful service to our country. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and relocated to Southern California as part of his military service. As a Marine, Mr. Lathan has executed multiple combat deployments, while leading, mentoring, and developing Marines from recruit training to senior non-commissioned officers. During his military tenure, he has attained increasing levels of responsibilities within human resources management and engaged in extensive training in areas including the Equal Opportunity Program, legal administration, substance abuse prevention for leaders, and sexual assault prevention. Mr. Lathan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, and is currently working towards attaining his Master’s degree.
Early in his military career, Mr. Lathan received formal instruction as an aviation mechanic, performing maintenance on aircrafts such as C-130’s, Hueys, Cobras, and Prowlers. In this role, he developed a stronger understanding of time management, focus with attention to detail, and most importantly, how to work as a team player, all which have contributed greatly towards his professional success. Mr. Lathan’s accomplishments in the Marine Corps led to his promotion to the rank of staff non-commissioned officer, with professional highlights to include earning the title of Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative and Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge.
Volunteer service is a priority and passion for Mr. Lathan and offers him great satisfaction in his personal and professional life. Mr. Lathan has five children – Caitlyn, Desmond, Zoe, Amaya, and Arabella.
